Jeroen de Rijke/Willem de Rooij
Dutch artists Jeroen de Rijke (*1970) and Willem de Rooij (*1969) started to collaborate in 1994.De Rijke/de Rooij's work is concerned with modes of representation found in artistic and mass media imagery, cultural -historic artefacts and social -political forms. Their film installations and photographies use the "beauty" of known principles of composition and their seductive potential. Exaggerated forms of representation, "over -production" and contextualization are key conceptual parameters of their work, raising questions about the artistic implementation of a concept into practice, specifically when two people work together.
Entiled "Together", their exhibition addresses precisely this problem by displaying, among others, three archives that provide the source material of their collaborative work. The presentation of these archives is a formal means to explore collective sources of creativity and our common use of imagery.
